Movie (Best release)of the Week/31 st Jan2014/Johnson Thomas       12 years a Slave(English) Rating: *  *  *  * Steve McQueen (Hunger) directs from a script he co-wrote with John Ridley, based in part on Solomon Northup's memoir(true Story) about his life as a free man in the 1800’s , subsequent kidnap and enslaving and finally ending in his rescue by a Canadian abolitionist. This is a somber, hurtful  almost poetic film that delivers the horrors of bondage with true grit!

Monkey trouble on the sets of Jigariya

Shooting in Mathura will go down as one of the scariest and costliest affairs for the makers of Jigariya. It so happened, that while shooting the cast and crew had a rather weird problem. Monkeys used to attack the film’s sets every day. Producer Vinod Bachchan spent a whopping 25 thousand rupees per day for 25 days to hire 25 langoors to protect the sets. “ Yes, this happened during our shoot in Mathura. We were not aware of the aggressive nature of the monkeys there. More than surprised, we were scared as they use to come in big groups and attack the sets and damage the equipment. Once they even took our heroine’s dupatta. They took my mobile and then we had to lure them in with food to get these things back. It was terrible dealing with them,” says Vinod. Actress Sapna Singh says she's a victim of casting couch, alleges molestation by producer Mumbai-based model and actress Sapna Singh today alleged that she was molested by a producer  at Versova near Andheri whom she had met at an audition about two weeks ago. Rising dollar makes Indian engineering exports competitive ;  IESS 2014 to net over  Rs 3,000 crore worth orders .   With strong dollar making imports from India cost effective for global buyers, business orders worth over Rs 3,200 crore are set to be bagged by exporters at the India Engineering Sourcing Show (IESS) which opened in Mumbai today with a significant participation of manufacturing firms from the United States, Germany and several other countries from Asia and Africa.  Speaking after inaugurating the 3 rd  edition of IESS, the Union Minister of State for Commerce & Industry Mr. E M S Natchiappan said there is great potential for Indian firms to push up exports.
