Taj Enlighten Film Society’s Naya Cinema Festival closed by hosting an exclusive 15 minute preview of Prakash Jha’s upcoming film Aarakshan recently at Cinemax, Versova.

“Future View” was a selection of 20 minute clips from important upcoming releases. Included in the selection also were Anand Gandhi's “Ship of Theseus” and Prashant Bhargava's “Patang”.

Prakash Jha then fielded many questions from the audiences and media present, talking about why he chose this subject and how he had to re-learn mathematics for the film!! He spoke about his admiration for Mr Bachchan and invited any group who had an issue with the film to contact him!

The event was hosted by Bhawnaa Somayaa who also launched her latest book on Amitabh Bachchan.

Aarakshan is an upcoming Hindi film starring Amitabh Bachchan, Saif Ali Khan, Deepika Padukone. Directed by Prakash Jha, who also directed Raajneeti, it is a high voltage socio-political drama based on one of the most controversial policies of caste based reservations in government jobs and educational institutions.

Other film’s previews included Ship of Theseus, a highly anticipated film by Anand Gandhi, the director of the cult short film “Right Here Right Now” (2003). Patang was presented at the Berlin International Film Festival 2011 and Tribeca Film Festival 2011. It is a co-production between India and USA, a drama set in the backdrop of India’s largest kite festival in Ahmedabad.

The much talked about festival ended with this special screening and aims at a reboot sometime later this year.
