Documentaries : Opportunity to learn and share cultural experiences –

Documentaries are good source for budding filmmakers to learn and share cultural experiences said Dr. Sanjay Deshmukh, Vice Chancellor of Mumbai University.   He was speaking at the inauguration of a 3-day International Film Festival at Mumbai University’s Kalina Campus as a part of 14th Mumbai International Film Festival (MIFF – 2016).   Documentaries on variety of subjects have ability to enrich the perception of the viewer, he added.

While appreciating the initiative he further informed that the university is going to get seven more auditoriums which will have fully functional film viewing capabilities as its digital university initiative so as to provide to students and film lovers to see films across the world.

MIFF has become a landmark event in the city of Mumbai over the years by having a special identity of its own said Mr. Mukesh Sharma, Director, MIFF 2016.  He praised the Indian documentary film makers creativity and  ability for not having imitated the international documentary movement and hoped that the festival will leave a lasting impression on all the film lovers who would be attending the festival.

“Bicycle” - A Documentary,  based on a man’s struggle to buy a bicycle for his son, was the opening film.
