Such platforms acknowledge the hard work we put into it. I thank everyone who has been a part of the journey so far. Congratulations to the entire team. Really looking forward to interacting with other filmmakers and the audience at the World Premiere”
Talking about his journey from artwork to filmmaking he says, “My personal quest for self-expression has taken me from writing, painting and composing music to finally culminating in filmmaking. For me, Art is a mode of inquiry and self-expression that counterbalances both the rational and the non-rational approaches to the human condition. Predominantly my subjects are generally drawn from the inner world of mythology and the unconscious. However, my themes are also influenced by the everyday external world. Owing to my multidisciplinary background, I have a multilayered approach to the human condition, a perspective that examines the human condition from various levels of existence including the psychological, existential, and at times even the mystical.”
About the Director:
‘The Last Koan’ is the debut work of Australian citizen of Indian origin, Satya Prakash Choudhary. Endowed with a multidisciplinary background that combines dental surgery, clinical psychology, and classical studies, Satya has also done the sound design and music for the film. Besides filmmaking, Satya’s current interests include mental health, mind-body medicine, human potential, spirituality, art, and filmmaking.
Synopsis:
The film revolves around a writer who has unresolved issues with his dead mother and a woman who has intermixed the identities of her husband and his best friend, as they explore the meaning of life, death, love, and forgiveness. Combining elements and characters from Indian folktale, the film narrates a postmodern Vikram-Betal tale inviting multiple interpretations.
