COMICON Bergamo, one of Northern Italy’s most anticipated pop culture festivals, returns from 26 to 28 June 2026 at Fiera di Bergamo, in collaboration with Promoberg, with a rich programme of international guests, exhibitions, panels, meetings and live events across its main sections: Comics, Video Games, Cinema and TV Series, Games, Young, Asian and Music.

Among the most anticipated international guests of the 2026 edition are two major names from the world of video games: Yuji Horii, the legendary game designer and creator of Dragon Quest, attending the festival as the iconic franchise celebrates its 40th anniversary, and Charlotte Hoepffner, the actress who lent her face through motion capture technology to one of the main characters of the acclaimed video game Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, winner as Game of the Year at The Game Awards.

Also joining the festival from Japan are two other major figures of contemporary pop culture: Yasumi Matsuno, author and game designer of Final Fantasy XII and Final Fantasy Tactics, among the most acclaimed and influential chapters in the Final Fantasy saga, and Yasuhiro Nightow, creator of Trigun, the cult manga and anime blending spectacular action with philosophical themes.

As every year, COMICON Bergamo will also welcome a wide line-up of international comics artists. Audiences will have the chance to meet Salvador Larroca, Eisner Award-winning artist and author of The Invincible Iron Man; Lee Bermejo, known for his dark and gritty vision of Batman; British artist and comics creator Dave McKean, beloved for Violent Cases and Black Orchid with Neil Gaiman, who will present his new work Pictures That Tick Vol. 2; French comics artist Gregory Panaccione; Spanish mangaka Konata; Marvel artist Pasqual Ferry; Mexican Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles artist Fero Pe; and American artist Travis Mercer.

A special focus will be dedicated to Poland, with the arrival of PrzemysÅ‚aw “TRUST” TruÅ›ciÅ„ski, the eclectic artist who created the character design and visual atmosphere of Geralt of Rivia for The Witcher video game and is also an award-winning comics artist; Bartosz Sztybor, writer and executive at CD Projekt Red, Vice President of Franchise and Narrative Director for Animation/Comics; cult fantasy writer Jaga Moder; and many other creators. This focus will explore how Poland has established itself as a new creative powerhouse in Europe, with globally successful projects such as Cyberpunk 2077, The Witcher and many other works across video games and comics.

The programme is made possible through the partnership between COMICON and MiÄ™dzynarodowy Festiwal Komiksu i Gier – International Festival of Comics and Games, the largest and most influential international comics and games festival in Eastern Europe, with the support of Polish cultural institutions including Stowarzyszenie Twórców Contur, Instytut Adama Mickiewicza and Instytut Książki.

One of COMICON’s most popular areas, the Asian section will welcome animation legend Takahiro Yoshimatsu, who has worked for over 40 years on cult anime such as Hunter x Hunter, Trigun and Dragon Ball.

The Games section will feature tournaments, meetings and two exceptional international guests: Dave Morris and Jamie Thomson. A pioneer of interactive storytelling, Morris has shaped adventure worlds for over forty years and, as co-creator of the groundbreaking Fabled Lands series, helped define the concept of an “open world” before it became widespread in video games. Award-winning author and veteran game developer Jamie Thomson is also a key figure in interactive fiction, co-creator of Fabled Lands and the mind behind the ninja-themed success The Way of the Tiger. His career includes the design of titles such as Fable III and the open-world gamebook series Vulcanverse.
