Synopsis:Liam Neeson stars as a air marshal confronted with a hostile force who plans to kill every passenger on a flight if the government doesn't pay a hefty ransom in this action thriller from Dark Castle and Warner Bros.. Jaume Collet-Serra directs from a script by Chris Roach and John Richardson
Joel Silver makes his debut as a Universal producer in this airborne thriller that reunites Liam Neeson and director Jaume Collet-Serra. It’s a hijack drama with a plot that may not stand-up to close scrutiny.
Federal air marshall Bill marks is an emotional wreck- an alcoholic with a young daughter, he has to tank ot up in order to muster courage to enter an aircraft. Once on flight , he rides shotgun business class and has a chatty Jen(Julianne Moore) in the seat beside him. Then comes the text messages and the mystery deepens as the warning becomes reality. In order to save the lives on board, Bill has to arrange for the transfer of $ 150 million to be deposited in a certain account or at every 20 minutes one person on board would be killed.
Hijackers on board are unknown so the sir marshall who appears to have been set-up to become the fall guy is the one under suspicion and he has to not only convince his fellow passengers and crew of his innocence but at the same time try and keep the casualties to a minimum without support from the airline or it’s management.
First-time screenwriters Chris Roach and Ryan Engle set up a decent rhythm of nervous engagement with a ploy that sets the narrative into slow-boil and never lets up till the climactic crash landing! Liam neeson as always is believable and keeps you engaged throughout!
