Movies(Best releases)
of the Week/30thMay2014/Johnson Thomas
Raid 2(English) Rating:
* *
* 1/2 A testosterone inducing top-of-the-genre
fight movie, designed as an assaultive massacre of the senses, this orgy of
mutilation, pulverizing action and violence gives nihilism new meaning.
Definitely not meant for the feint hearted!
Citylights(Hindi)
Rating: * * * Sundance hottie, ‘Metro Manila’ repackaged with an Indian
set-up and milieu- But this Hansal Mehta directed quickie doesn’t guarantee the
same degree of engagement mainly because it comes across as contrived and
unaffecting. The nuances and grittiness of the original are sorely missing.
Music and performances are first rate though!
Blended(English)
Rating: * * * For
once Adam Sandler doesn’t go overboard with the smaltz, unpalatable riffs and
bed taste. This film is a ‘blended’ romcom that holds your attention and
provides the right amount of laughs throughout!
