#HamariAdhuriKahani(Hindi) Rating: * ½ Corpulent mess- and I am not talking about the narrative alone. It’s Better left unsaid. A woe-b-gone extra-marital love story that comes across as forced and extremely intransigent. The ‘thanda’ zero chemistry pairing of a chunky looking #EmraanHashmi(I don’t know what I am doing look on his face) with a podgy #VidyaBalan(looking perplexed throughout)doesn’t allow for any affecting dramatics other than that of the puerile kind. It’s by far the weirdest love story I have seen ..and it has the most confounding unpalatable dialogues I have heard. Even the songs which usually are the highlight of a #MohitSuri film, lack memorability. #RajKumarRao tries hard to make his presence felt but the overall incredulity was just too galling for that to take effect. #MaheshBhatt(Story), #ShaguftaRafique(Dialogues) & #MohitSuri(Direction) we expected much better from you!#BalajiMotionPictures #EktaKapoor #FoxStarStudios #HemanshuMestry #VijaySingh
#JurassicWorld(English/2D/3D/Imax) Rating:* * Dino-SOUR! 22 years later the Spectacle has been extended from Park to World but the fear factor is missing! Well past it’s fly-by date this ‘brand’ishment has the ‘mite’ in terms of CGI and techno-giz with exec-producer #StevenSpielberg looking on dolefully but lacks the soul that made his original sci-fi fantasy adventure thriller a must-see. Even #IrrfanKhan’s presence can add only dubious weight to this ‘monster’ production. Aimed at cultivating the new-gen viewers, this one may manage to momentarily ‘awe’ you(that’s if you are easy to please) but there’s no take home! #ColinTrevorrow #UniversalPictures #MoesArt #JascintoFernandes #ChandrasekharNeeli
#TheDuff (English) Rating: * ½ A dead bore! A tiresome teen romedy that bases it’s premise on an acronym and takes the formulaic track to curry favor amongst the easily pleased teen audience. This is basically ‘junk food’ for the brain if you are the kind who likes to be in-line with a trend. #DebparnaBanerjee #AbhinavChohan #OindrillaChakraborty #CBSFilmsRelease #MVPEntertainment

Nothing worthy this week so go for last week’s best releases. They are much more worthy of your buck!
#TheAgeOfAdaline(English) Rating: * * * ½ A superbly plotted timeless romance that draws you in with conviction and grit in spite of it’s confounding preposterous premise. The implausible becomes plausible here and that’s why it’s a winner. #Pictureworks #PVRPictures #BlakeLively #HarrisonFord #MichielHuisman #EllenBurstyn #AmandaCrew #KathyBaker #LeeTolandKrieger
#KaakkaMuttai(Tamil/EnglishSubtitles)) Rating:* * * ½ Highly endearing and heart-warming. This celebrated Tamil film with English subtitles, superb award winning performances from the two young leads and gritty realistic direction from cinematographer turned director MManikandan, draws you in with it’s aspirational, heart touching story and robust vivacity. #RameshThilaganathan #JVignesh #MManikandan #Dhanush #FoxStarStudios #Wunderbar
English Film Review

Dumb & boring
Film: The DUFF
Cast: Mae Whitman, Robbie Amell, Bella Thorne, Bianca Santos,Skyler Samuels, Nick Eversman, Allison Janney, Romany Malco, Ken Jeong
Director: Ari Sandel
Rating: * ½
Runtime: 101 mins
Synopsis: Emotionally devastated after learning that she's secretly referred to as "The DUFF" (Designated Ugly Fat Friend) by the entire student body, high-school senior Bianca (Mae Whitman) dismisses the cautionary advice of her favorite teacher (Ken Jeong), turns her back on her longtime crush Toby (Nick Eversman), and enlists the help of charismatic jock Wesley (Robbie Amell) to help salvage what's left of her senior year. As the once-contented senior wages a monumental struggle to regain her self-respect and confidence( albeit in all the artificial ways represented by today’s teens), she gradually turns her efforts toward knocking cruel class queen bee Madison (Bella Thorne) from her throne up on high. Based on the popular novel by Kody Keplinger.
Review:
So there she goes trying to be everything she’s not. Trading her study material for some much needed feminine pizzazz from charismatic fervently pursued jock Wesley. As young adult novels go, this one’s not about athletic prowess or survival instinct but largely focuses on issues of self-image and acceptance from peers. The lessons it teaches though are all weird and conflicted and pretty much catering to an age-group that is less clued in. The characters are all thinly represented given the teen fascination for all things superficial. Mae Whitman lends the charisma but it’s not enough to keep you seated through this boring ugly duckling to beautiful swan transformation that’s just not convincing. Though Ari Sandel tries to keep the narrative blended in with the times, it just doesn’t feel replete or fulfilling. Nothing here does, in fact!
