Mumbai, April 13, 2016: After wowing the audience with the acclaimed film, Shuruaat Ka Interval, Humaramovie, a cutting-edge digital content studio is now back with their second feature tentatively titled, Shor Se Shuruaat, as part of the initiative ‘Shuruaat’, an annual one-of-a-kind mentored short film competition.
Shor Se Shuruaat, is an anthology of 8 short films based on a common theme, Shor (Noise), which will be directed by the protégés of renowned filmmakers, Shyam Benegal, Imtiaz Ali, Raju Hirani, Mira Nair, Zoya Akhtar, Sriram Raghavan, Nagesh Kukunooa feature, r and Homi Adajania, marking their debuts.
Each mentor has nominated a protégé to direct a short film on the theme ‘Shor’ (Noise). Each film will be unique in its own way depending on the filmmaker’s interpretation of the theme.The 8 short films will range from 12 - 15 minutes and will be compiled to make a feature that will have a theatrical release later this year. Shor Se Shuruaat will be a launchpad for not only assistant directors but also editors, cinematographers, executive producers and other technicians.
Launched by the founders of Humaramovie, Preety Ali, Pallavi Rohatgi and Vinay Mishra in 2014,Shuruaat is an initiative to provide the next generation of Indian filmmakers a chance to showcase their work on the big screen. A competition for only debutante unreleased filmmakers; Shuruaat not only provides a distribution platform across theatres,
satellite and digital but also mentorship and guidance under some of the stalwarts of Indian film industry.

The first anthology Shuruaat Ka Interval was launched in 2014, which brought together four directors, Imtiaz Ali, Anand Gandhi, Vikramaditya Motwane and Vikas Bahl, who guided their assistants to make a film on the common theme ‘Interval’ that released theatrically to rave reviews across five cities on 15 August 2014. The film later successfully aired on Netflix, Hotstar, and I-Tunes. It is also currently in the top 15 Hindi movies of 2014 on IMDB

Preety Ali:
Preety
has 16 years of experience in Film & TV production. She has produced big
budget & independent films, with credits like Black Friday & Namaste
London. She is the founder of PI films with Imtiaz Ali & co-founder at
HumaraMovie.
Preety started her career with Sony Entertainment Television, and went on to work on landmark TV shows like CID (India’s longest running
TV show), etc. She was also conceptualizer
for programs like Surabhi on Doordarshan and Good Food Guide on Star Plus.
§ Executive producer for blockbuster movie entertainer “Namastey
London” directed by Vipul Amrutlal Shah.
§ Producer for 15 advertising films for Apocalypso films, directed by Pradeep Sarkar
(director Parineeti). Clients includedCadbury, Peter England, Kurkure, Coke
etc.
§ Line producer for film “Black Friday” directed byAnuragKashyap.
Preety presently runs the creative process at HumaraMovie and
also handles the feature film division.
Pallavi Rohatgi
Pallavi is a corporate lawyer, specializing in Private
Equity Debt Finance. She has worked in the jurisdictions of India & United
States. Post her Masters in Law from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, she
went on to join Ropes & Gray, LLP, in
New York where she practiced for over 5 years.
Post taking a sabbatical,
Pallavi did film training at New York University and then joined the production
of acclaimed independent director Todd Solondz for his movie, The Dark Horse (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1690455/?ref_=sr_1),
working with Producer extraordinaire Ted Hope. She is a co-founder at humaramove, presently managing the marketing,
International sales efforts and production support. She moved back to India
from New York in May 2011 to start HumaraMovie.
Vinay Mishra
Vinay
has been an entrepreneur for the past 15 years, starting his career as a
founding member of Intercept Technologies, the first company to be funded by
Westbridge Capital Partners (later Sequoia), which set up Internet Advertising
& Internet Advertising technology in Asia & India. Post this Vinay
co-founded Marketics, which became the
largest Marketing Analytics company in the world. Marketics was acquired by WNS Global (NYSE: WNS) in 2007-08.
Vinay went on to do a film course at NYU and then was the associate producer on the New York
cross-border film, Walkaway (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1390840/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1), where he handled marketing & communication.Vinay
moved back to India from New York in May 2011 to start HumaraMovie.
Vinay runs strategy,
operations & alliances for HumaraMovie.
