3 Idiots nominated for Japan Academy Awards
3 Idiots, the 2009 blockbuster Hindi feature film by Rajkumar Hirani, has been nominated for the 37th Japan Academy Awards, in the Best Foreign Language film category.
The film has been nominated alongside major international critical and commercial successes: Captain Phillips, Django Unchained,Gravity and Les Miserables. Considered to be the Oscars of Japan, the Japan Academy Prize was started in 1978 by the Nippon Academy-shō Association.
The nominees were selected by the votes of the Nippon Academy Awards members. The award ceremony will take place on March 7, 2014.
3 Idiots had released theatrically in Japan in June 2013 and did extremely well at the box-office.
