The lead character is a randy sex addict who is misogynist interested in hetero sex ,not marriage. He hits on every woman in the vicinity- no holds barred. This could be highly entertaining downtime for those brave enough to venture forth. Synopsis:

Directed by Robert Schwentke, the second film in the Divergent series find Tris (Shailene Woodley) and Four (Theo James) on the run from Jeanine Matthews (Kate Winslet) while trying to figure out the secret that will help the rebels build a new and better future

 

Review:

Tris(Shailene Woodley), the free thinking divergent young adult super hero starts the sequel by shortening her locks with a pair of what looks like gardening shears. And viola, she emerges looking like a pixie with a chic cut. So is that yet another of her super skill set? well, maybe…

There’s of course much more to display than a hair cut here. The sequel to the hit opener ‘Divergent’ has Tris looking for a change. The new look is just one part of it. But while Tris gets to do a whole new set of computer generated action stunts, the audience can’t help feeling a sense of déjà vu. The grim dystopian fable, middle book adaptation of a Young Adult trilogy series, treads much the same ground as the opener. The jumping on and off trains, the hand to hand combat, the gun wars, precarious dangling from dangerous heights , a heavy duty body count and fanciful effects though incrementally tougher, lends a sense of sameness to this product.  

The action takes place in a community that is divided into five factions defined by personality traits. We already know that Abnegation is depleted due to a genocide while Erudite led by Jeanine(Kate Winslet) is looking to get complete control over all the factions. She believes that in order to achieve that, she has to open the golden box which she confiscated from Tris’ mother(Ashley Judd).And for this she needs a 100% divergent and Tris appears to be the perfect candidate. Threatening to kill the rest of her comrades, Jeanine finally gets Tris to surrender and volunteer for the experiment to see if she is the perfect fit. Tris and Four—both faction-defying Divergents and therefore deemed dangerous. Her timid Erudite brother Caleb (Ansel Elgort) and onetime Dauntless member Peter (Miles Teller)join up with Jeanine and Evelyn(Naomi Watts as a brunette), Four’s mother who faked death comes back into the picture to lead the Factionless, a group of unaligned outliers. Tris and Four get to spend a night together cementing their love for each other and then Tris has to sacrifice herself for the greater good of her people. Eventually, Tris and Four reunite with their old Dauntless mates before the climatic faceoff inside Erudite headquarters.

This is much more serious than the ‘The Hunger Games’ franchise  so relief comes only in all-too-brief moments brought on by Peter’s faction-shifting. Despite it’s deadly seriousness , ‘Insurgent’ works because of Shailene Woodley’s stellar ability to look both vulnerable and believably kick-ass. Kate Winslet , as the villain is solid  while the other supporting characters provide strong support. As an fantasy actioner , ‘Insurgent’ keeps the faith!
