#YahaanSabKiLagiHai (Hindi) Rating: * ½ Road-trip gone awry. Poor story-telling craft puts paid to any involvement. The moniker says ti all. you will get screwed here! #VibrantWorks #TinaABose #CyrusRKhambhata #InderjitFilms #VarunThakur #EdenShyodhi #HeerokDas #TeeshayShah #AnushaGill #NaaradPR
#Barkha(Hindi) Rating: * * Old-fashioned romantic drama. Has some stirring moments of sentiment but rests on entirely flaky content and twisted machinations. #ZaharaProductions #ShabanaHashmi #SanjayBedia #ShadaabMirza #TaahaShah, #SaraLoren #PriyanshuChatterjee #ShwetaPandit #RaashulTandon #HardlyAnonymous
#RunAllNight(English) Rating: * * * Action star Liam Neeson and director Jaume Collet-Serra make their combo stick this time. This is their most satisfying work even though it’s tried-and-tested crime movie template, with a talented cast and tight production values. Makes for a quality actioner alright!
#DragonBlade(English) Rating: * * * Great production design and swift but vapid action, this east-west mishmash inspired by true events (48BC)mixes history and geography to get to it’s core philosophy of ancient dexterity and power of will. Plays out satisfyingly at least- despite it’s fantastic premise. #MoesArt #PVRPictures #JackieChan #JhnCusack #Adrienbrody #DanielLee #GoldenNetworkAsia #VisualiserProduction #SparklerollMedia #HuayiBrothers #ShanghaiFilmGroup
#TheGunman(English) Rating:* * ½ The Gunman, a muddled espionage thriller squeezed from the pulp of a long-forgotten French novel, with Taken’s Pierre Morel at the helm. But this ain’t a macho makeover that is distinctive. A solid star cast and Penn’s ripped persona can’t salvage it though #SeanPenn #PVRPictures #JavierBardem #IdrisElba #RayWinstone #MarkRylance

Review
Without the contrived degree of difficulty there obviously would not have been any film to speak of. Even so, it’s not much of an accomplishment. Sean Penn has never been a traditional hero in a generic action film. He has never bothered about increasing box-office receipts by taking the conventional route either playing comic-book superhero or action hero. But this time, he dons the garb of a traditional action hero who has to take on the baddies to keep his loved ones safe.
Don’t know why this particular project piqued his interest. Penn is not only credited as producer and lead actor but also as co-writer of the screenplay. Unfortunately for him, it’s not a very distinguished or distinct experience. The narrative is in fact more of a bland uninteresting and thoroughly unexciting series of sequences that don’t add up to a very invigorating whole. There’s nothing interesting going on here other than stereotypical clichéd stuff that appear terribly banal. Watching Penn zig-zag his way across Europe in order to ensure the safety of himself and his loved ones by using the lethal skills he's mastered over his life, doesn’t have much of a bite to it.
The action transpires in the war-torn Congo where, in 2006, assassin Jim Terrier (Penn) has to separate from Annie(Jasmine Trinca), the love of his life, after killing the Minister of Mining. After an eight year separation from Annie made necessary by his status as an international fugitive, Jim finds his way back to her only to learn that his ex-employers are looking to whitewash their past by eliminating those who did unsavory work for them. So Jim and Annie end up on the run in Barcelona avoiding hit men and assorted thugs while trying to find a way out of a situation with no apparent escape.
With Javier Bardem and Idris Elba co-starring with Penn , one would have expected a far more weightier effort but this one takes the cake on flimsy. Even Penn doesn’t appear convinced about his action hero persona what with long conversations getting interrupted intermittently by some machete wielding and gun-firing. Despite the heavy duty assets , this film just doesn’t have the weight to carry it forward at the Box-office!
