U Turn is a mystery crime thriller located in Bengaluru and most of it’s mysterious events occur on a double-road flyover somewhere in the midst of the city. The young female reporter, an eager to please intern, Rachna(Shraddha Srinath), was only interested in putting a stop to traffic crimes but instead she finds herself prime suspect in the series of murders that come to light during her pursuit of the story. Now did she ? or didn’t she? is the question.
Rachna is of course more than grateful that one particular cop (Roger Narayan)believes in her version of the events. But will that be enough support to exonerate her?
Pawan Kumar exhibited flashes of narrative brilliance in ‘Lucia’ and his second feature also showcases similarly striking moments. The narrative is tightly woven and there’s little time given to question the plausibility of what transpires on screen. And that’s great for a viewer looking for thrills that come at you at break-neck speed and with immense volatility. There are no formulaic interruptions here. Kumar piles on the mystery and then sets out to slowly untangle the knots. It’s unpredictable and the real truth comes out in bizarre fashion.
Pawan Kumar makes this effort sharp and telling. The characters(all) have enough depth and they exist for a purpose. This is a well trimmed, cauldron of simmering possibilities that suddenly boils over leaving behind a far-reaching truth. The performances are all note-worthy , well in keeping with the demands of the script. Poornachandra Tejaswi’s mesmerizing background score adds to the mystique and the camerawork by Advaitha Gurumurthy, Satya Hegde, Siddhartha Nuni is simply breathtaking. So here’s a film that despite it’s showy pretentions delivers a payoff that’s way above the commonplace. This one is certainly worthy of your patronage.

#Sarbjit(Hindi) Rating: * * Railing over a lost cause. There’s no empathy to attach you and neither is there any great craft to enhance the experience. Performances look fake and the screenplay just doesn’t have enough meat to make it half-way engaging. #AishwaryaRaiBachchan #RandeepHooda #RichaChaddha #DarshanKumar #OmungKumar

#UTurn(Hindi) Rating: * * * Sharp and telling mystery crime thriller. Pawan(Lucia) Kumar’s tight and completely immersive narrative has both flash and dash in equal measure. This whodunit turns every theory on it’s head before flushing out the real killer. And you will be stupefied! #PawanKumar #ShiladityaBora #DrishyamFilms #Loudspeakermedia #MauliSingh #PawanKumarStudios #RogerNarayan #ShraddhaSrinath #DileepRaj #AdvaithaGurumurthy #SatyaHegde #SiddharthaNuni #RadhikaChetan #Skanda #Krishna #Pavan #Naveen #Divya #Pramod #AarnaKulkarni #Kennedy #PoornachandraTejaswi Runtime: 120 mins
#XMenApocalypse (Hindi) Rating: * * * It’s bursting at the seams with numerous specialist mutants getting together in an effort to arrest the rampage of Apocalypse and his team. While the thrills are many, visual dynamics are mind-boggling, a muddled middle portion and the lack of coherence makes the experience enjoyable but not exactly satisfying. #ShrutiSundaram #VijaySingh #FoxStarStudios #HemanshuMistry #20thCenturyFox #BadHatHarry #KinbergGenre #HutchParker #DonnersCompany #JamesMcAvoy #MichaelFassbender #JenniferLawrence #OscarIsaac #NicholasHoult #RoseByrne #EvanPeters #TyeSheridan #SophieTurner #OliviaMunn #KodiSmitMcPhee #AlexandraShipp #LucaTill #JoshHelman #BenHardy #LanaCondor #ZelkoIvanek #AnthonyKoneehny #BryanSinger #SimonKinberg #MichaelDougherty #DanHarris #HutchParker #LaurenShulerDonner
