It happened on 26th November 2014, at the Welingkar Institute of Management Development & Research. The Global Peace Initiative, 2014 was a sombre occasion, saluting the resilient spirit of Mumbai and spirit of Ms. Kia Scherr, who continues to stay in the same hotel and the same city where she lost her family during the terrorist attacks and wants to spread the message of love, peace and warmth to the same city that took away so much from her. Mumbai has lost many lives but has always bounced back with much positivity. The initiative saluted this very valiant essence of the city.

From the past 2 years in the remembrance of the lives lost in the 26/11 terrorist attacks in Mumbai, Welingkar Institute of Management Development & Research hosts The Global Peace Initiative in collaboration with One Life Alliance. In these 2 years the event has witnessed people like Sania Mirza, Sunil Gavaskar, Vivek Oberoi, Aftab Shivdasani, Mohit Chauhan, RJ Mallishka and many more.

The event this year was graced by well-known faces from the Television and Film Fraternity like Zayed Khan, Lisa Ray, Poonam Dhillon, Hazel Keech, Gracy Singh, Karan Singh Grover, Mantra, Soumya Tandon, Arya Babbar, Zoya Afroz, Rajshri Thakur, Gaurav Chopra, Hrishitaa Bhatt, Ragini, Rajeshwari Sachdev, Sunil Grover, Kushal Tandon classic comedian Bharti Singh and many more. 

The stellar evening witnessed a number of dance and music performances by famous artists like Kavita Seth followed by a "Walk for Peace” wherein the celebrities walked the ramp with the children of Gosavi Bahuuddeshiya Sanstha, an NGO.The costumes that adorned the celebrities were designed by ace designer Achana Kochhar. The costumes were specially designed for the event keeping the occasion in mind.

Global Peace Initiative began as an ideation, but we never knew that its execution would become the Heart of this Institute. In a span of 3 years from just being a thought to being our soul, this transition has been inexplicably heart-warming.”
