Digital Broadcasting Ecosystem Links Up at DBSF 2012 in Johannesburg
Vital links in the digital broadcasting ecosystem will hook up at The Commonwealth Telecommunications Organisation (CTO)'s Digital Broadcasting Switchover Forum 2012 from February 22 to 24 at Hotel Protea Balalaika in Sandton, Johannesburg, South Africa:
Namibian broadcaster, Albertus Aochamub, Director-General, Namibian Broadcasting Corporation, will reveal his country's distinctive path to conversion from analogue to digital transmission Advisor to public broadcasters, Beth Thoren, Communications Director at Digital UK, will share her frontline experience with public information campaigns about switchover Satellite service provider, Nicholas Baravalle, VP Sales, Africa for SES, will showcase satellite as a medium to promote digital broadcasting Content creator, Desiree Markgraaff, co-chair of the Independent Producers Organisation of South Africa, will evaluate industry's readiness to enable local content for digital TV.
The conference features two and a half days of information, debate and knowledge-sharing on the burning issues of dual illumination vs. switchover; horizontal vs vertical market structure; engaging the viewer vs. protecting the consumer, digital dividend vs. subsidies for switchover and much more.
DBSF 2011 will be graced by the presence of Hon. Dina Pule, Minister of Communications, Republic of South Africa and Hon. George M. Khaniri, Assistant Minister, Information & Communications, Kenya and broadcasters from South Africa, Namibia, Swaziland, Nigeria as well as broadcast and communication regulators from South Africa, Malawi, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, Rwanda and Nigeria have signed up to attend.
