Interview with actor Abhimanyu Singh

Image
“I have done an item number in Department” so says Actor Abhimanyu Singh.
<
Onscreen he personifies pure evil but off it he is diametrically different. Well-known for his negative role in films like Gulal, Rakht Charitra, ABHIMANYU SINGH in person is far more likable and approachable than his onscreen persona hints at. Abhimanyu Singh hasn’t been seen much on the small screen but he returns to the world of small screen with his ongoing serial Upanishad Ganga, produced by Chinmaya Mission and Directed by Dr Chandraprakash Dwivedi, the serial is currently running on DD. Abhimanyu talks to Johnson Thomas about his newest ventures.

Firstly, tell us something about this new serial “Upanishad Ganga”, what is it all about?
The serial is based on the teachings of Upanishads. This serial will bring the audience closer to the Indian Philosophy and explain them the Vedas and Upanishads in the form of stories. The serial is a treasure trove of rare stories. The stories are old yet pres…

Josh Brolin’s apprehensiveness over playing young Agent K

No country for old men guy Josh Brolin is a new kid in the Men in Black Franchise. Men in Black 3 which releases in 3D all over India on 25 Th May, also stars Josh along with Will and Tommy. Josh will be seen playing the character of young Agent K. Josh certainly felt like the new guy on the block especially in the beginning not only because he had not worked with Will before but also because of the strong chemistry Will and Jones share on screen and off screen as well! Josh was apprehensive of playing the character of young agent K as he recalls “I have fun with doing Nick Nolte or Tommy Lee Jones (impersonations), but really bad versions of them. And when I said yes for the role I started studying it, I went, ‘Boy, I said yes, what's the matter with me, I'm trying to sabotage my career, what am I doing!’” Talking about his role Josh said “It was much harder to play the character played by Tommy Lee Jones be…

Who is the True Father of indian Cinema? Dadasaheb Phalke or Dadasaheb Torne??

Image
Ramchandra Gopal Torne (13 April 1890 -19th january 1961) had made a recording of a play 'Pundalik' and sent it for processing to London to later on release it in Coronation Cinematograph, Mumbai on 18th May 1912. the event was reported in the times of India and a review was published in the same paper a few weeks later. The film ran to a packed house with more than three-fourths of the then Hindi population having viewed it within the two weeks of it's run there. Considering this unquestionable fact can we still honestly say that Dadasaheb Phalke whose first film 'Raja Harishchandra' was released only a year later on May 9th , 1913, is the father of Indian cinema???
The Directory of Filmmakers and Film states Torne to be the first Indian to make and release a full-length story based film and therefore he is the father of Indian Cinema
Another reputed and established reference archive-Oxford's Encyclopedia of Indian Cinema(Page 227) mentions Torne…
