The International Bestseller has successfully sold Sixteen Million copies in 35 languages.

From printed page to big screen, it's been a journey for author Cassandra Clare and her "Mortal Instruments" series. For her, the making of the movie seemed like a dream. Every action in the film is based on her book and it has all gone through a long process. Clare herself hails from a family which is into movie-making. Her grandfather was a movie producer. She has grown up in the film industry.

Movie-making is a time taking task and requires patience but it was certainly not unexpected for Clare who has movie-making in her blood. The book was well modified into the film with the director keeping an eye on every detail, focussing on the characters and their relationships to the special effects involved in the fantasy sequence.

It is a very touching moment for an author to see her romantic-supernatural fantasy series being adapted into a Hollywood flick. And hence, Clare wasn’t just an observer on sets. Like many authors before her, she has made a cameo in the movie which is based on her best-selling series.

"The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones," co-starring Jamie Campbell Bower, Lily Collins and Robert Sheehan, opens August 30.
