CUTE KAMEENA : Kirti Kulhari

Cute Kameena : Kirti Kulhari

She is already a known face. She’s had a long and successful stint doing ad films and has even bagged some starring roles in prestigious films like Anuraag Kashyap produced ‘Shaitan’ and the Internationally acclaimed ‘Jal.’

So she is no spring chicken in the industry. It’s been almost a year since we’ve seen her on the big screen but she assures us that she’s been busy with a lot of theatre and working on under production films.

‘Cute Kameena’ is one she is banking on. It’s different from the films she has done so far. As different as chalk and cheese you might say. ‘Shaitan’ and ‘Jal’ were films that went the indie route. ‘Cute Kameena’ is more mainstream. A romcom with a story within a story theme, this film has her playing bohemian, devil-may-care, with an attitude to boot pitted opposite an easily influenced brash youth from the tier 2 city-town.

A navy brat, this pretty actress has cut across family resistance and small town barriers to forge her own independent path in Bollywood. And the ones who once were skeptical about her foray are now quite proud about her achievements.  She may not be a star yet but she has all the makings of one- and with talent to boot.

Kirti's play is premiering at the Prithvi festival this year. She admits she hasn't had any interesting offers yet but she is keeping her fingers crossed for better scripts that can help gain her recognition in the public memory.
Ask her how she's managed to do reasonable well in spite of not having a godfather in the industry and she says " The offers came to me without any great effort on my part. Of course I havn't hesitated to audition for roles and take that route very seriously. My initial offers came to me because of my modelling stint. And I am quite grateful for that.

So will this Cute Kameena strike it rich this March 18?

Only time will tell.
