The festival is organized by Oculus Creations and supported by theMaharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) under Government of Maharashtra and is being organized for the first time in India on a grand scale to provide a platform for the female filmmakers.
The festival will be held at 6 different venues to cater to a large number of filmmakers and film lovers. The grand Pink-CarpetOpening ceremony will be held at Ravindra Natya Mandir, 5 days of screening at Broadway cinemas- Oshiwara, Borivali, Bhandup, Fun Cinemas Andheri and grand Pink-Carpet Closing ceremony at Bhabha auditorium Sophia College.
The jury panel of MWIFF comprise of top filmmakers like Namrata Rao, Bhavani Iyer, Sudeep Chatterjee, Mayur Puri, Bhavna Talwar, Aditya Datt, Amitabha Singh, Geeta Singh, Vinay Sapru & Radhika Rao. 
To support and take the festival at a higher level the festival has the support of Advisory Board members like Vivek Agnihotri, Anshuman Mahaley, Basheer Ali, Ananth Mahadevan, Lawrence D'souza, Leena Manimekalai.
MWIFF, even though a first time initiative of Oculus Creations, has gained the support of top Bollywood women filmmakers like Zoya Akhtar, Leena Yadav, Nandita Das, Reema Kagti, Renuka Shahane, Honey Irani, Sumitra Bhave, Farah Khan for its efforts and will also be sending in their films for screening at the festival. The invited films are ‘Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara’, ‘Luck By Chance’, ‘Turning 30’, ‘Talaash’, ‘Honeymoon Travels Pvt. Ltd.’, ‘Main Hoon Na’, ‘Om Shanti Om’, ‘Firaaq’, ‘Aarman’, ‘Sparsh’, ‘Ramchand Pakistani’, ‘Rita’, ‘Deveeri’, ‘Manjadikuru’(Tamil), ‘Mala Aai Vhhaychy!’ just to name a few from Indian directors and films like ‘Chutney Popcorn’, ‘Cake’, ‘Cosmopolitan’ from Hollywood director Nisha Ganatra.
From the above mentioned films, the star cast featuring in each of these films, the Directors, technicians are invited for screening, which will be followed by a Master Class or an interactive session after that particular screening.
MWIFF is not just about screening films but also about entertainment. Performers like Rajashree Warrier, Shibani Kashyap, Hema Sardesai, Abhilasha Chellam and many others will be adding charm to the Pink carpet Opening and Closing ceremony. 
Furthermore, the festival has organised workshops of noted Bollywood celebrities like Piyush Mishra, Sharmistha Roy, Aparna Sud, Rachna Rastogi, Honey Irani, Anjum Rajabali, Alankrita Shrivastava, K. U. Mohanan, Shaan, Kamlesh Pandey, Ashima Chhiber, Aruna Raje, Dr. Achala Nagar for film enthusiasts on various topics of cinema and will also witness the presence of Sai Paranjpye, Nandita Das, Shaan, Nawazuddin Siddiqui.
Our submissions have closed down and we are now starting our Delegate Registrations for attending the festival days. Festival Director Avinash Pawar said,” The festival has tried to cover major parts of Mumbai reaching out to the maximum film lovers and also invited top Bollywood celebrities to conduct workshops in order to imbibe the knowledge of cinema to film makers and film lovers”.
The festival will be screening more than 150 films from across 70 nations at 6 different venues so as to reach out to maximum film lovers and to showcase maximum films possible of the women filmmakers. The festival gives its delegates to attend the grand ‘pink-carpet’ Opening ceremony, screening of films, seminars, master class, workshops and ‘pink-carpet’ Closing ceremony.
