Mumbai, October 19, 2013: For two consecutive days, entertainment has been aplenty at the 15th edition of the Mumbai film festival presented by Reliance Entertainment and organized by the Mumbai Academy of Moving Image (MAMI). Day 3 was no different.

Opening the ‘Celebration of Spanish Cinema’ category was the 1938 musical El Barbero de Sevilla, starring Miguel Ligero, Estrellita Castro and Roberto Rey and directed by the late and highly regarded Spanish director, Mr. Benito Perojo.

Across venues, films screened included, Dwein Baltazar's Mamay UmengTonnere directed by Guillaume Brac, Vivek Budakoti's comedy drama Pied Piper, 15th Mumbai Film Festival’s Lifetime Achievement Award winner Costa Gavras’ The Ax and Jia Zhangke’s A Touch Of Sin (Tian Zhu ding), French film Blue is The Warmest Colour directed by Abdellatif Kechiche, The World of Goopi and Bagha directed by Shilpa Ranade, Vakratuna Mahakaaya by Punarvasu Naik and 6 experimental films among others.

At noon, Metro Big Cinemas was abuzz as Oscar Academy member and Head of Stereoscopic Department, Walt Disney Animation Studios, Robert Neuman discussed the vagaries of 3D techonology. In 'Getting Perspective : The Art and Science of 3D Motion Pictures' he shed light on adapting big-screen 3D effects for video, before-screen vs behind-screen 3D convergence and where stereoscopic 3D film production may be heading in the future.

Iterating that the audience should enjoy the final product Neuman said, "In 3D there is always a balance between depth and comfort. Our philosophy at Disney as far as 3D is concerned is making the viewing comfortable for the audience."

The 15th edition of the Mumbai Film Festival’s academic endeavors continued with an open forum panel discussion attempting to identify an ‘Alternative distribution plan for Indie Films.’ Moderated by MD AV pictures (UK), Chris Hainsworth, panelists CEO Happiness Distribution (France), Isabelle Dubar, CEO and Producer, Sikhya Entertainment (India), Guneet Monga, leading columnist, Shubra Gupta and Founder, Idyabooster, Nandini Mansinghka offered insightful points of view.

Witnessing Day 3 unfold, was a star studded audience which included  Director Hansal Mehta, Actor Rajkumar Yadav, Meghna Malik, director Tanuja Chandra, Divya Dutta, Konkana Sen Sharma and others.
