Picks and Piques/Snippet film Reviews 13thDec2013/Johnson Thomas

Jackpot(Hindi) Rating: *  *  ‘Bare’ necessities.  Sunny Leone and Naseeruddin Shah are the main draw here but there’s far too little content to make them look good. Sachin Joshi’s third outing, directed by the infamously famous Kaizad Gustad, is yet another twister without the tension or logic to make the experience palpable.
Lucky Kabootar(Hindi) Rating: *  Catering to the baser needs, this kabooter is not so lucky after all!
What the fish?  (Hindi) Rating: *  *  Pleasant but imperfect. Clueless attempt at comedy. The humor is middling and the  narrative runs a little too wild to be believable
The Hobbit( The Desolation of Smaug(English/3D) : Rating: *  *  * ½  Impressive  visual feast with FX and Computer Graphics  imagery that defy belief. And New Zealand(where the film was shot) looks so breathtaking that a holiday there should definitely make it to the top of your bucket list…or any list for that matter!

Oldboy(English) Rating: *  *  *  Spike Lee’s latest, based on the 2003 South Korean cult thriller by the same name, has great actors and enough tension to keep you interested.
