The date to meet the greatest football hero, the world has ever known, is set! Football fans gear up for the biggest cinematic treat on screen as ‘PELÉ: Birth of a Legend’ hits the theatres on May 13. The film – that’s on the must-see list of every sports fan - tells the miraculous story of the legendary Brazilian soccer player Pelé’s rise to glory from a young boy, to the 17-year-old, who scored the winning goal in Brazil’s first ever World Cup victory in 1958. Scoring music for the highly-anticipated biopic is the Academy Award-winning music maestro AR Rahman.

Produced by Academy Award and Emmy Award-winning producer Brian Grazer, ‘PELÉ' has been directed and written by Jeff Zimbalist and Michael Zimbalist, both Emmy Award nominated writers. The film stars Kevin de Paula, Vincent D’Onofrio, Rodrigo Santoro, Diego Boneta and Colm Meaney and will be released by PVR

The biographical film chronicles the most-celebrated footballer’s life. Born Edson Arantes Do Nascimento, but nicknamed Dico by his parents, the man that football fans around the world would forever come to know as Pelé, grows up in the poor Brazilian village of Bauru. After Brazil’s devastating loss in the 1950 World Cup final, a nine-year-old young Dico makes the bold and unlikely promise to his father that someday he will go on to win a World Cup for Brazil. From a life full of disadvantages and an impoverished youth in Brazil, Pelé used his unorthodox yet authentic style of play and his unbeatable spirit to overcome all odds, find greatness and inspire a country that he changed forever.
