Saga Music Brings UK's #1 Asian Hit, ‘Tusi Bewafa’, To India
Produced by DJ Sanj of American Desi fame, the duet album also features Satwinder Birdi and Miss India UK 2012, Deana Uppal

New Delhi, March 12, 2012 – Saga Music, a rapidly-growing music distribution company expanding its footprint in Bollywood, today announced that it has been selected by MovieBox, UK’s largest Brit-Asian Record Label controlling the largest catalogue of UK 'Bhangra' in the world, for India music distribution of Punjabi music album ‘Tusi Bewafa’. The album is a creation of the immensely talented Punjabi singer Satwinder Birdi and internationally acclaimed DJ Sanj, who has 200 plus songs and over 18 albums to his credit, including blockbuster album American Desi and the hugely popular official remixes for the Bollywood flick ‘Love Aaj Kal’ such as Twist, Aahun Aahun and Ye Dooriyan.
Singers with varying vocal range have contributed to the ten tracks in the album, making it interestingly diverse in both mood and style. The lead track 'Tusi Bewafa' is a sad song rendered in solo by Satwinder Birdi, who gained huge popularity among Punjabi music fans with his previous hit 'Athre' from the album American Desi. The other sad song 'Yadaan Teriyan' has been sung by Mangal Singh of ‘Rail Gaddi’ fame. The dance numbers ‘Boli Pauni’, ‘Bhangre Paun Nu’, ‘Mitran De Naal Nach Ke’, and ‘Agiya Sawaad’ are fast-paced tracks in the youthful voice of eminent Bhangra and pop singers such as Soni Pabla, Binder Bajwa, J.Deep and Karan MC. The album also has two tracks in the popular category, titled ‘Jayeen Na Canada’ and ‘Marde Salute’, sung by Sonu and XLNC-Harbhajan Talwar, known for their famed albums R U Ready II Dance, Mere Yaar Ne 2K11 and Deja Vu. The album also features instrumental versions of ‘Tusi Bewafa’ and ‘Agiya Sawaad’.
The lyrics have been penned by Satwinder Birdi, Mangal Singh, Chan Jandialvi, Kultar Singh, Soni Pabla, Chan Jandialvi, and Dilshad. Directed and produced by DJ Sanj, the video of the album features Satwinder Birdi, DJ Sanj and Deana Uppal, the recently crowned Miss India UK.
Commenting on the announcement, Mr. Alipt Bhatia, Business Head of Saga Music said, “Saga Music shares more than a decade-long association with the Punjabi music industry and has had the privilege of taking some of the most brilliant works of musicians to the fans. Tusi Bewafa to us is one of the most promising albums this year, being high on both composition and vocals. We are excited to partner with MovieBox, who like us, have a strong focus on Punjabi regional music market.”
"We at MovieBox UK are very excited to be working with Saga Music on this new project of DJ Sanj and Satwinder Birdi. ‘Tusi Bewafa’ has already become the official number 1 selling record in the UK's official Asian download chart by storming to the top spot in the very first week. We aim and hope to achieve similar success in India as DJ Sanj is already a household name in the country after the huge success of his last album ‘American Desi’,” said Mr. Kamraan Ahmed, Owner of Movie Box.
Saga Music will release the album in CD and cassette formats. Unisys Infosolutions is the digital partner for promoting the album on mobile and online platforms.
