#Drishyam (Hindi) Rating: * * * Fairly engrossing thriller, this plot twister regurgitated from #JeetuJoseph’s original Malayalam hit #Drishyam has #AjayDevgan essaying an idealist facing extraordinary circumstances only to cave in and justify an accidental murder at the pedestal of family honor. The film has enough interesting moments, stays realistic, exhibits crisp performances but the tension gets slack and the lack of conviction in the ‘whodunit’ revelation makes it just a wee bit contextually challenged. It’s almost a frame to frame copy of the Mohanlal starring original and therefore loses much of the original’s charm in the translation. Kamat is unable to stamp his own signature on the narrative. #Janiva(Marathi)Rating: * * Criminally insensitive about sensitivity. This film is gimmicky and tries to wrest it’s laurels by plying on sentiment and irrationality. A boy on the cusp of manhood commits two crimes and the film tries to provide unpardonable justifications for his exoneration. Amateurish narration, over-the-top performances by stalwarts and unpolished ones by the youngsters, scratchy scripting and editing and poor story-telling does it in. #DeoolBanda(Marathi) Rating: * * * An NRI scientist(an atheist by design),  who created the Raghav frequency that could serve as an early warning signal against terrorist attacks, comes Face-to-Face with God(Swami Samarth) in an ‘#OMG’ styled confrontation and eventually realigns with his faith. It’s an interesting play-off engineered with some charismatic actors.
