The evergreen dance anthem Eena Meena Deeka has been recreated for Shahid Kapoor and Alia Bhatt’s forthcoming romcom Shaandaar.

Composed by Mikey McCleary, the peppy new version has been sung by Rachel Varghese. The popular number was originally part of Kishore Kumar’s Asha and this song played a big role in the movie’s success.

According to film historians the words of the song were inspired by children playing outside composer C. Ramchandra's music room. They were casually uttering the worlds  "Eeny, meny, miny, moe", which inspired the music director and his assistant to create the line "Eena Meena Deeka, De Dai Damanika". Gradually the composer and his assistant Gomes, who was a Goan added more lines and gave us this iconic number.

Here’s a sneak peek of this classic in its new avatar featuring the Shahid and Alia at their adorable best.
