Stand Up Women Bring Innovation from India to Israel - “The Startup Nation”

Friday, 5th August, 2016: The Embassy of Israel in cooperation with TiE Delhi-NCR will host the “Start Tel Aviv” competition India Finals on 12th August. Two women entrepreneurs will be awarded a trip to the Startup Nation by the Ambassador of Israel to India. Who will they be?

Start Tel Aviv 2016 is a global annual event organized by the Israeli MFA and Tel Aviv Municipality. Technology startup winners from 23 different countries around the world will convene in Tel Aviv, Israel, in September 2016 to take part in an intense, five-day startup experience. They will join local Israeli entrepreneurs and participate in lectures, workshops and meetings with leading Israeli and international investors and professionals.

For the first time ever, the 2016 edition of START TLV focuses on women entrepreneurs. Ms. Ditza Froim, Head of Public Diplomacy at the Embassy of Israel,applauded the indomitable spirit of women leaders to innovate and succeed. “No socio-economic ecosystem,” she says “is complete unless it incorporates all segments of society, even more so when it comes to building an ecosystem of entrepreneurship and innovation.”

The finalists of the national competition in India will pitch their startups to a panel of experts including Dev Khare, Managing Director, LightSpeed Ventures India; Rajesh Razdan, Founder & CEO, mCarbon; Ankita Vashishth from Saha Fund (Women Focused Fund); Gaurav Bhatnagar, Co-Founder, Travel Boutique Online; Kalpana Jain, Partner, Deloitte Tohmatsu and Gita Dang, Talent Advisory Services from the local “Shark Tank”.

Winner of Start Tel-Aviv 2015 national competition:

Winner of the Indian finals for Start TLV 2015, Gautam Shewakramani, Founder & CEO of AudioCompass, a company that turns smartphones into personal tour guides said, “Winning Start Tel Aviv gave us global exposure to other startups and entrepreneurs. We were able to share ideas and learnings from different markets. Start Tel Aviv enabled me to connect with innovative Israeli companies in similar fields to explore licensing and technology collaborations.”

Background on Start Tel Aviv 2016:

The 4th edition of Start Tel Aviv will be held in Israel from 25-29 September 2016, organized by Israel’s MFA and Tel Aviv Municipality. The goal is to help promising early stage startups meet and establish relationships with potential customers, partners and high profile industry leaders alike.

Tel Aviv, Israel’s business capital is a leading innovation hub with a local ecosystem of world class tech talents, dozens of leading multinationals and hundreds of tech startups.
