Acclaimed film maker Dinkar Rao's film Asthi (Ashes ) has been selected at the Court Metrage , short film corner at the Cannes film festival 2018. The film Asthi is about a girl Meera who runs off all alone with her mother's Ashes, the kalash, to Haridwar to immerse them in theGanges. Meera(Antara) is full of conflicts and sadness as old memories and the soothing voice of her mother, Saroja Devi, a classical singer, come back to haunt her. She visits the ghats but is unable to get herself to immerse them. A surreal conversation begins with the Ashes as she travels the lanes, gullies &the banks of the Ganges Dinkar Rao says It has been a very different experience for me since my first feature film SZoya the black which was finally approved with 26 cuts by the Film Appellate tribunal was official selection at the Straasbourg and Milan Film festivals. Antara the main actor in the film is student of Economics honours at Jesus and Mary College Delhi and is an avid debater. “I was very intrigued by the script of Asthi because it explores the emotion of letting go of your parents' ashes , the last physical proof” The film has six classical songs sung by Meenakshi Roy, a classical singer trained at the Banaras .Asthi is produced by Lavanya Rao
