Fox Star India bags National Award for  Jolly LLB

Mumbai 16th April 2014: Fox Star Studios’ Jolly LLB directed by Subhash Kapoor has been declared the best Hindi film and has also won the best supporting actor nod for Saurabh Shukla,  at the prestigious 61st National Film Awards, announced in New Delhi on Tuesday.  A comic satire on the country’s legal system, Jolly LLB, starring Arshad Warsi and Boman Irani in stellar roles, was the first break away hit of 2013.

Subhash Kapoor, who along with Arshad Warsi has teamed up with Fox Star Studios once more for his upcoming next, Guddu Rangeela, added, “ This is truly a momentous occasion for all of us. Together with my cast, Arshad, Boman, Saurabh and others and with my producers,  Fox Star Studios, we went all out to create a film we all believed in. Over the last one year since the film has released, I have travelled with it and am humbled to receive so much love and affection from the audiences. To win a national award for this film is indeed very special and it’s a huge responsibility as well, as we move on to bring our next, Guddu Rangeela. “

For Fox Star Studios, Jolly LLB is a part of an ongoing endeavour to create high concept cinema, that is equally entertaining. From Stanley Ka Dabba, to Jolly LLB and to upcoming films, Hawaa Hawaai and Citylights, the studio is striving to make a difference to Indian cinema, being offered to the audiences, while also keeping its promise of creating mega blockbusters. Incidentally, Citylights, will bring back the award winning team of Shahid- Hansal Mehta and Rajkummar Rao. While Hansal has picked up the national best director award, Rajkummar Rao has won the national best actor award.

Vijay Singh, CEO, Fox Star Studios added, “ We are truly gratified by this honour to Jolly LLB. Subhash and the FSS team are extremely grateful for the critical and popular acclaim which Jolly LLB received. Team Jolly LLB is now excited to bring  Guddu Rangeela to the audiences. Looking ahead, as we get set for our two releases in May, Hawaa Hawaai and Citylights, all we can say is that we are pushing the envelope to create cinema that will tug at the hearts of the audiences and will push the boundaries of excellence.”
