Quotes of celebrities
Anurag Kashyap tweeted -"Saw THITHI the 4th time and it was funnier than it was ever before. I seriously envy this Ram Reddy, how do you make non actors act so well?”
Kangana Ranaut – I really enjoyed the film and I think it’s very different, very unusual for Indian cinemgoers so please go watch it and have fun.
Shekhar Kapoor – I really liked it, it’s very difficult to make such observational films and sometimes I wonder how people write these scripts because there is natural tendency to high drama, we get dramatic when we write and it’s not easy to have the confidence or the patience to sit back and make a film as it’s clearly observational and it’s just kind of gradually emerges.
Sudhir Mishra – It’s so gently, so minutely, delicately and beautifully told. It’s so warm, so engrossing simultaneously, brilliant performances, really very well done.
Juhi Chaturvedi, writer of Piku tweeted, #THITHI what an endearing film! @RaamReddy89 making non actors act, u r a fabulous film maker at 26! Everyone pls see this humorous film!"
Gulshan Devaiah- I loved it. I’m from Karnataka so I follow the language, subtitling is great but then those little nuances I get because I grew up in Bangalore. So I really enjoyed it, it’s a wonderful story, It’s very honestly made and I hear that they are all non-actors, it’s a beautiful film that puts a smile on the face. I think everybody should go and watch it.
Vicky Kaushal – Thithi was just amazing.. it was great experience and I wish the team of Thithi Raam and everyone else a very best and I hope many many many people turnout because this film deserves a great audience and they’ll be happy to watch the film.
Swara Bhaskar – Thithi reminded me a lot about Premchand’s stories. I must admit this is the first Kannada film I have seen so it was quite interesting and phenomenal work for the director who is so young. It’s really nice to see such original actors. The world he has created is very interesting.
Kartik Aaryan – Amazing, it’s actually a very content driven film, it’s hilarious in a way, it’s got its moments and I really like the way it was directed by Raam Reddy Sir and acted by everyone, the casting was really good. The world is really nice so I loved it.
Thrilled to receive a great response from the film industry, Raam Reddy says, "Firstly, I am completely and utterly indebted to Anurag Kashyap for his amazing support and championing of the film ever since I met him in Locarno last year. Without him, the film would not be where it is today. It really is nothing short of a miracle for the kind of appreciation a subtitled kannada language film is getting from industry leaders. It was such an amazing honour to have guests like Shekhar Kapur and Kangana Ranaut at the screening, to meet them and hear their words of encouragement. Yesterday Aamir Khan tweeted warmly with overwhelming praise for the film and today Irrfan Khan has tweeted with similar appreciation. I cannot describe how deeply grateful I am in every possible way!"
Thithi bagged two top awards –-Pardo d’oro Cineasti Del Presente Premio Nescens” (Golden Leopard, Filmmakers of the Present Competition) and “Swatch First Feature Award" for the best debut feature— at the Locarno International Film Festival where it had its international premiere in 2015. The film made its Asia premiere at Mumbai Film Festival (MAMI), 2015 and won the Jury Grand Prize in the international competition. The film recently won the 2016 National Award for Best Feature film in Kannada and also won three awards at the Karnataka State Film Awards 2016 - Best Film, Best Dialogues and Best Supporting Actress. "The film was also one of only two Indian films in the past decade selected for 2016 New Directors/ New Films, in MoMa, New York, and also was the only regional indie film from India that was in the Sight and Sound Critics Poll for the Best Films of 2015.
The film is produced by Pratap Reddy and Sunmin Park.
