Daavat-e-Kitsch -  #JohnsonThomas

#YashRaj’s attempt to make a big ado over it’s latest under production film, the #HabibFaisal directed,  ‘#Daavat-e-Ishq’ was a sweltering affair; what with the media having to wait it out in a tawafied atmosphere sweating it  in muggy humid conditions in a room packed like sardines, awaiting the arrival of the two stars - #ParineetiChopra and #AdityaRoyKapoor to make their much delayed entrance. By the time the stars sauntered in ,albeit an hour and a half late, the media was in little mood to ask questions of any value. So you got the ususual ‘ Whom would you invite to a ‘Daavat-e-ishq?’ questions for both stars who parried it with sometimes confused, most times intentional restraint.

What came out from the 45 minute interaction was also as skewed as the entire event. The film is about a Lucknowy chef and a Hyderabadi chef falling in love. The trailer was interesting but certainly not much of a how stopper. So most of the whetting of the appetite was done by the  aromas waffling around, from the food cooking down below, as part of the feast to be served.

Once the Press interaction was done the press moved to the ground floor intent on tasting the food being served. And the verdict on that was the food was just about ok. Not a feast for the eyes or the stomach. Much like the trailer, it was merely a filler giving a small taste of what was to come. Hopefully things will get better when the promotions pick up steam and the actors, director and producers get into their stride!
