95-year-old Kathak Queen Sitara Devi choreographs fusion promo track with granddaughter Rishika Mishra for Hollywood film Love & Passion

Three if not, four generations of kathak exponents and gurus will jointly choreograph a kathak-fusion track for the promo of the Rs 95-core Hollywood film Love & Passion starring actress Anjana B, a well-known B-town male hero, two Hollywood actors and two new faces who will debut in the project, according to content agency IndyaNewz.com. The film is jointly produced by Weeping Shadow Films of Sussex, Great Britian and Gayatri Film Productions of Mumbai.

The 95-year-old Kathak Queen or Nritya Samragini, meaning the empress of dance - as Rabindranath Tagore described her about 80 years ago, along with her daughter – kathak guru Jayantimala and granddaughter Rishika Mishra will choreograph a special kathak-fusion track that will have elements of Ballet, Bollywood, Salsa, Flamingo, Mujra, Tandav and Bellydance. The promo sound track which is ‘under final stages of production’ according to an IndyaNewz.com report, will be of approximately 5 to 6 minutes and will have a disco feel to it.

On the first day of the choreography session, IndyaNewz.com managed to photograph Sitara Devi, Jayantimala, Rishika and Anjana rehearsing at their studio at Versova in suburban Mumbai.  Says the 21-year-old Rishika, “Nani (referring to her grandmother Padmashree Sitara Devi) is all excited about this project. She and I share some similar traits. We are both rebels and in that sense this project is my baby. Nani and my mother – kathak guru Jayantimala are guiding me to put the very challenging choreography together. They are very much part of the project, but the individual fragments will be stitched by me very aesthetically and creatively. It will have elements of Ballet, Bollywood, Salsa, Flamingo, Mujra, Tandav and Bellydance in it. There are two main dancers and it is an out-and-out foot-tapping dance number.”

The proposed Hollywood film has ample doses of steamy or bold scenes, which will be very aesthetically shot in locales like Scotland, Thailand and in southern parts of India including Goa and Pondicherry, says IndyaNewz.com. David Wolfe of Weeping Shadow Films from Sussex, Great Britain is the director and will have a team of Indian Ads assisting him.

The hot Bengali bombshell Anjana B who acted in films like Zilla Gaziabad, Right Ya Wrong, Chashme Baddoor and has done ad films like Vithoba dantmanjan, Nmart, Zalim lotion, Kabjamrut, etc., also recently did a sizzling wet white-saree special photo shoot in Goa. She has also been doing theater for the last 5 years and has acted in plays like Uncle Samjha Karo, See No Evil Hear No Evil and Get rid of my Wife.
