#Badmashiyaan:FunNeverEnds(Hindi) Rating: * Messing with #VantagePoint style and based on the Korean flick ‘Couples’ but without the ingenuity and intelligence required. Back and forth narrative proves tedious and unbecoming for a romcom that doesn’t have any logical story to tell. It’s 2 hrs and 8 minutes of incredible tedium!#RaviGutte #ParullGossain #AmitKhanna #SiddhantGupta #SuzannaMukherjee #KaranMehra #SharibHashmi #GunjanMalhotra
#HeyBro(Hindi) Rating:* A twisted fraternal twins story where one bro searches for his lost family, this one is meant to be funny but grates on your nerves every moment of it’s runtime. Simply unpalatable! #AjayChandhok #VidhiAcharya #NitzNSony #PranavVatsa #GaneshAcharya #ManinderSingh #NupurSharma #HanifHilal #ParagDesai #UniversalCommunications
#DirtyPolitics(Hindi) Rating: * Dirty yes..and disappointing too. Too fragmented to make sense or provide entertainment. More than the dark side of politicians it hopes to expose, this film shows the darker side of desperation that good actors have to undergo in an industry that has little value for their unshirkable abilities. What a great waste of sterling talent! Mallika’s skin show doesn’t have the drawing power anymore. It’s too crude, passé and horrific seeing her trying to seduce old, pot-bellied and decrepit men – too many of them in fact! #MallikaSherawat #JackieShroff #KCBokadia #ParullGossain #BMBMusic&MagneticsLtd #AnupamKher #AtulKulkarni #GovindNamdeo #NaseeruddinShah #OmPuri #RajpalYadav
#CoffeeBloom(Hindi) Rating: * * * A Coming-to- terms of sorts with one’s own intransigencies, this film that explores the mind of a deeply distressed soul searching for peace in his old haunts is a deep and enveloping experience. Craftily narrated, this film speaks volumes through great set-ups and smart performances by #ArjunMathur, #SugandhaGarg & #MohanKapoor. #ManuWarrier’s directorial touches are quite ingenious and impressive. #SpeakingTreePictures #LongLiveCinema #MoesArt #SarjitaJain #SaurabhRathore #ShabditaShrivastav #NatashaBandodkar
#AgainstTheSun (English) Rating:* * * An Intense world War II survivalist drama about three men on a life raft adrift in The Pacific Ocean ( 63 million square miles), one of the most harrowing true stories of that turbulent period, this one may not have the drawing power of #AnjelinaJolie’s #Forbidden but it’s not easily forgotten either. #AghorRajProductions #TomFelton #UniversalCommunications #ParagDesai #GarretDillahunt #JakeAbel #BrianFalk
#IndiasDaughter(Documentary/English/Hindi) Rating: * * * ½ A shadowy re-enactment of the entire sorry tale that led to a massive emotional outpouring of grief and anguish against brutal, inhuman crimes against women triggered by the heinous ‘Nirbhaya’ rape and murder in the national capital , Delhi. It’s powerful, factual and raises issues that hit our parliamentarians where it hurts most- Not that our media hasn’t covered all this before. Image is everything I guess and when the attack is done from a foreign platform the hurt is long-lasting. Rape is a heinous crime irrespective of country, caste, religion ,community. The film is a historic capture of a movement that began as an outpouring of grief and anguish against brutalising crimes against women... This Film depicts that with sensitivity and is a powerful denouement against our patriarchal value system...doesn't matter that it was made by a Britisher. That's incidental. It’s a must watch! #BBC4Storyville #LesleeUdwin #NickFraser https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Tfaurfg7EQ&feature=youtu.be&app=desktop
Hindi film review
Seamy but not Steamy!
Film: Dirty Politics
Cast : Anupam Kher, Ashutosh Rana, Atul Kulkarni, Govind Namdev, Jackie Shroff, Mallika Sherawat, Naseerudin Shah, Om Puri, Rajpal Yadav, Sushant Singh
Director : K.C Bokadia
Director : K.C Bokadia
A supposed expose on the seamier side of politicians, this film top-lining Mallika Sherawat, aims to get the audience in with it’s ungainly, corpulent, sexual impropriety. Do not go by the versatile class of male actors lending their fame to this monstrosity. You definitely shouldn’t expect any great performances from this lot who appear to have been misled by the promise of International fame based on fragile and undependable hopes of a cinematic coupling with the desi diva who, as the PR set claim, is quite popular among the international set of film festival regulars. Why else would they consent to this ungainly exercise in sleazy cinema?
A social climber, wannabe Chief Minister, Anokhi Devi(Mallika Sherawat) and her partner(Rajpal Yadav) wrangle their way into the Deputy CM post through some unedifying sexual maneuvering. Anokhi Devi, a dancer gets intimate with Deenanath and makes a tape of their bed scene, using blackmail to get close to the CM’s chair. The game of cat and mouse between Anokhi and Deenanath continue and the stakes get higher and higher. She now wants to sit on his chair. Will he relinquish?
You really don’t want to know what transpired thereafter because by then you just want to get out of having to suffer through some terrible skin show with a corpulent, pot-bellied septuagenarian trying to do the impossible. At least it appeared that way from where I was sitting.
K C Bokadia’s days of setting up a juicy pot-boiler for the front-bencher audience is long way past. Using stinging dialogues, steamy sequences and conniving moves, he tries to make it all happen but it just doesn’t. There’s really no excitement or bite in this rather unsavory product. Neither do the versatile lot of well-known male actors, Jackie Shroff, Om Puri, Naseeruddin Shah, Atul Kulkarni, Anupam Kher, Ashutosh Rana, Govind Namdeo, Rajpal Yadav, Sushant Singh do anything worthy to keep the interest going. Mallika Sherawat’s skin show doesn’t do the trick either. There’s distension here and it’s not very happening either!
